In DFW, most of the too good to go is mostly snacks and treats instead of actual meals. The actual food goes so fast and there's not much of it. Great concept but more buffet types of restaurants and such need to get on board is my thought.
I've ordered from Too Good To Go several times since moving to Austin. Love the concept and the meals were great! I'd love to support them more and deliver meals to people in need. Former Case Manager for Seniors..this could help so many people.
This has been a blessing for our family because my health I cannot cook for my family after work I cannot move or walk this app has help us because we cannot afford because we are low income my daughters love going to pick up they enjoy it
Wow so much food in US is thrown out. Not so where I am (Indonesia), I would give food to neighbors who I think would appreciate it. Those little that's thrown out would be eaten by cats. Plenty of feral cats around
This is a great idea. But someone is going to get sick on some food (or claim to get sick) and sue for millions and put an end to this. It has happened before.
I asked a local Supermarket why they don't give away food to shelters and homeless at the end of the day. They told me that they used to, but some lawyer sued when someone claimed to get sick… so they shut it down. Thousands of hungry people went without because some greedy ambulance chaser wanted to make a score.
I love this concept. I had a similar idea several years ago but it involved delivering the food to the customer's door. Either way, this is a really good way to eat away (no pun intended) at all the wasted food we throw out I'm the US.
Not to mention people are throwing away food on their plate that they can't finish. And restaurants are encouraging people to do this(keep recommending food that taste good to customers) as customers will still continue paying the food but never thought of whether they can finish the food they ordered
Yes, I enjoyed some parcels from places I wanted to try out, but usually bakeries as many places don't have vegetarian-only bags.
If you want to try out a place and don't mind what you get, sure, but it's not cost-saving or affordable way of 'grocery shopping', because if you have 3 kids to feed and pay £5 for a 2G2G bag and get 4 loaves of bread, it's not a meal.
Also there's no control what you get. You can end up with 5 kg of bread or 3 croissants. If you're vegetarian or celiac or allergic, forget about it.
If you want to 'save' food from waste, I've been using Olio app where people in my area give away food they don't need and local volunteers collect fresh food, bakery, wilting fruit and veg and expiring food from shops and give it away via Olio, all for free.
However, the app is not about 'saving food' and reducing food waste any more. Now places sell – probably lower quality – food directly through them. It has become another way for restaurants and chains to distribute food.
I've noticed many places, chains especially, can suddenly guarantee certain number of bags each day, and they put them up for sale the day before.
How, if the food they sell is supposed to be the leftovers and you could never know what is the leftover going to be and how much?
I spoke to some shop owners (bakery) and asked what they did before TooGoodToGo and they said they'd give it to a local charity/shelter/soup kitchen or homeless people. So now they get to cut their losses and squeeze the last bit of money they can out of it (good for small indie places) and those in need don't get it, which made me feel bad.
Their new Parcels option, the items are near BB date or nearing expiry and they sell them for the same price as some supermarkets.
Got scammed 2 times using in Ireland. I ordered. Than waste time waiting only to find out an hour before collection that was cancelled even tho they never selling all products.
I wasn't financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my third house already, earn on a monthly through passive income, and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone's that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing in the financial market is a grand choice I made.
Restaurants do not have to through away food. It can be donated or distributed to homeless people but they (we) do not want to! Just look at the amount of food fast that is thrown away daily! What a waste of time, money, effort, energy, resources and animal lives! 💔
I got a $5.99 box from a pizzeria in NY and got 10 specialty slices and 2 dozen garlic knots, along with misc bakery stuff like cookies and zeppoles. For $6 and change after tax
Judging from the comments : the people who like it , REALLY like it .The people who don't like it have some constructive criticism . I had to laugh at the woman opening the bag to find a sheet cake inside. Then I asked myself," What if this person was was hoping for a meal?" This could be a let down
As a restaurateur, the concept of Too Good To Go seems great, but the reality is different. Restaurants are required to offer at least 3 items daily, even if there’s no surplus, forcing us to adjust inventory and buy extra ingredients just to meet the platform’s demands. This doesn’t actually reduce waste and often leads to additional costs. On top of that, restaurants pay a fee for every order, meaning we barely profit, if at all. Customers benefit, and Too Good To Go earns from the system while maintaining a positive image, but it can hurt restaurant revenue, especially when customers wait for discounted items instead of ordering normally. Some places even create special items just for the platform, turning it into more of a marketing tool than a waste-reduction initiative. It’s up to you to decide if this approach aligns with the idea of reducing food waste.
Very interesting history. They were on Shark Tank in Denmark in 2016. Valued at 3 million USD. Said no to all the offers (at around 1 million USD) and left without investments. Went to Silicon Valley to find an investor. Didn't find one. Ended up handing over 5% for nothing to one of the Sharks to get her to help twice weekly.

This is Brilliant!
What if you are vegetarian and you get meat ???
Food recycling at its finest.
8:21 why does a software company need scale to get to profitability?

On this too good to go app are people allowed to leave reviews per establishment/restaurant?

In Japan I think they made vending machines that sell discounted leftover food, but you can see what you’re buying lol
But if profits are that high for too good to go, something isn't right.
I love this app and use it regularly ❤
Awesome idea to help those want a deep discount for food
What a great idea👍
How did they manage to lose money on this???
I like the idea 👌💡

Sorry its BS, it's not left overs as if you check these restaurants are still throwing away food 🤬

crazy good and simple concept that tackles an extensive problem! thank you for sharing!
Businesses can cut cost by creating less food waste. It’s a simple concept but they just don’t know how to do it.
Its a good cause and is good value, I hate food wastage
I guess this place just expanded to my city last week or so. Ill check it out

Brilliant. We need more businesses like Too Good To Go.
