back then limousine was a status symbol. today they are associated with drunk, trashy hippies partying on one of those ghetto-ass looking truck that pretend to be a luxury bus they call them "limo"

I think the modern day large SUV that serves as de-facto limousine is actually closer to the limousines of the 1920s and '30s: rather tall, boxy vehicles that seat 7 or more that do not have a long trunk. The silhouette is somewhat similar.
