I hate that during the SUPREME rise in fascism in this country, I have to think about making more money but fact is that I need more so I can leave. That's basically it for me. I make over 130k in my job but I need independent money so I can get off this sinking ship while there's time smfh.

You can too invest out of poverty. It doesn’t take much to accumulate wealth through investing, just discipline. I guess if you had that though you probably wouldn’t be in poverty tbf. Other than handicapped and mentally ill, poverty is a choice, and I know first hand. Those who are in poverty but are capable enough got too comfortable and don’t care to work for a better life. It’s as simple as that. Poverty as a capable enough individual is due to 100% poor choices. It will hurt some feelings but sometimes the truth stings.
What we should do is give everyone born a 7,000 investment at child birth and let it grow tax free until age 65. If invested in the markets which depending on the rate of return 7 or 8 % will give you anywhere between 500,000 to 1 million upon retirement.
It spurs asset appreciation, save money, park it in the stock market, if everything goes to shit the first thing they will save is the stock market because that’s where the rich keep their money
