This is literally proof that we wash our hair too harshly and too often. That's why our hair absorbs the oil so well. ๐
I only wash my hair about every three days and only with fairly warm water and a scalp massage at the same time. This means my hair is clean and I don't need any care products, although I bleach and dye my regrown hair blue every 6 weeks. My blue hair color doesn't wash out much because I don't use shampoo. My hair is well-groomed and shines clean, even without shampoo. ๐
4:30 "we didnt use the hair because it would sink to the bottom and make recovery difficult so instead we just used chemicals to send the oil to the bottom of the ocean floor
I do a lot of recycling of a lot of materials. Glass, it can be melted and used to make a lot of things. It can also be crushed and used as aggregate for underlay for roads or concrete pours and even used in the making of concrete. Where I live, the only recycling done here is in metals. So, for me to recycle other materials, I have to do it myself as there is no profitable way to ship it anywhere where it might be able to be recycled.
If only the first world would just do this in large scale instead of using other countries as dumpsters. The world would be a paradise by now, but nooo… some people just have to keep being greedy.
With the glass recylers, they dump bins full of bottles, feet above a half full dumpster and not one bottle breaks. But YOU or I accidently clang a couple together and it's a disaster!
Woo- Hoo! Love the bottle crushing idea! About the old windturbine blades, they looked like homes to me, any size.Heck they can be made into bus stop huts.
My thoughts about that video: 1. Human hear for filters. how much is cost to ship every envelope with hendfull of hair? $4-5 at minimum. dont even wat to discuss the biohazard acotiated with that and cost of protestion needed for the employees + cemicals to dizinfect the hair. 2. Glass recicling factory. Is it not more efiitient to make companis use a fewer standart size bottles and just wash and reuse the bottles as is. just make label glue water disolvable to ease the proccess. We had that in the past 500ml bottels for beer, 250ml and 1L bottle for soda 700 mil for wine. Only Coca-Cola was using their own shape bottles. Now every company is using different bottle by color and shape forsing to crush everyting I dont see that as good use of resurses. 3 Fibreglass Blades from turbines in to benches. That`s a joke right? how many benches we can use-need? Need to get donated to cover the 30-40K price tag. I see it as a way to drain a programm $1000 to paint the bench. Is it the artist who pay $1000 for the "canvise" or the taxpayers? Just cut the damn things in to dust and use to save Lusiana : There are over 341,000 wind turbines globally. in 2024 good luck using them as benches in 20-30 years. Just build more Nuclear Plants. 4. Paper recicling all solid there ๐ 5. Hoby iniative,in getting those pigments. I hope they upscale fast and find more uses for it. Just paint won`t cut it 6. Asfalt recycling limit needs to be inceased, so more is re-used good for New York for trying ๐ 7. Electronic recycling. Good luck. It`a a mess needed to be regulated by "Right to repair" laws and pushed towards actually easy to repair devises. 8. Burning the garbage is cheap and dirty. but works. 9. Contruction material to futniture is a hobby buisiness. (happy for the people working there) 10. Roof shingles. burn it or swich to metal or clay roofs. clay will requare stronger roof support because of weight. and metal is termal chalange. (use the blades from turbines) 11. Lavander farm is small scale business but noblle cause. 6 billion acres of issue just in US. Good luck. 12. Bags from recycled Plastic is a niche butique idea and $133 for a plastic bag is a joke. But hey, the son is happy.
So does BP have to still find a way to clean up the oil on the ocean floor? Or they just got off? I think every year they should have to clean a certain amount until itโs fixed. How? Itโs on them to figure it out.
These people actually make money off of donations………..their companies are not profitable. These are businesses in the same sense that a man holding a cardboard sign with "need money for food" printed on it is a business………..
Wind turbines produce so much waste and manufacturing pollution and their life span is so short. They kill so many birds and bats, eagles and Hawkes that fly looking downwards not ahead a lot of the time. Each one of the myriad has a heap of oil that is changed each year. Farmland and forests are decimated to install roads and cables with topsoil removed (never get it back). Coal fired power plants churn out all the electricity used in creating the steel and manufacturing. Rainforests being cut down for all the balsa wood that are the frames of the blades and they are the biggest lie and a few blades being recycled is nothing. Something but nothing to counter balance all the destruction.
I thought it was common to call all machinery female..? From when I was young 'be gentle with her' was taught to me. Tools, machinery, vehicles… all female and all needed looking after. Now for the whiplash of that sentence hahaha But take care of her she'll take care of you.

If desert sand isn't good enough, cant they just melt it into glass and crush and sift out the right size?
for the person who creates the hair mats, I agree, I donโt understand how people find touching hair unappealing
I enjoyed the glass half full op-ed, thanks for sharing their story and progress!
Shit
Fiberglass boats and older cars are also possible material sources and left-over plastics can be ground down to become 3d printer filament
Imagine if all that was not recycled, repurposed, reused… it sure is a waste. Thankful for these clever companies!
It's obvious size matters to american women

The hair one is actually disgusting.
She's been shaving her bush for 10 years to help clean up oil.
That's alot of weiner

Thumbnail??
Off shore windmills confuse whales and make them beach. The vibrations make noice that mimics speech of whales communicating. Bad for the environment

Shortage of sand ? mmm
burning plastic instead of coal. ahuh.
Love it!!

The thumbnail is some brave dickabolical work just to say the least๐
Could bamboo be grown on the reclaimed coal mine sites? Bamboo likes poor soil and grows fast. It has many uses also.

The industries that produce the original material should be paying for the recycling costs. Great job!
